Guerdwich Montimere, 22, Gets Popped For High School Ruse

Guerdwich Montimere clearly subscribes to the notion that high school represents “the best days of our lives”. The 22-year-old graduate of Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s Dillard High School missed that since his 2007 graduation. The young man was a skilled basketball player during his reign at Dillard, and a lot more than likely wanted an additional taste. Perhaps he could not pay tuition without an installment loans for people with bad credit. Montimere, an American citizen from Haiti, decided that enough was enough in 2009: he had to discover some 15-year-olds to dominate on the court. So he made what he felt was a logical choice: He posed as a 15-year-old and enrolled at Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. As the Odessa American reports, Guerdwich Montimere (aka Jerry Joseph) has been arrested for hi! s little game.

A false ID charge suited Guerdwich Montimere

Guerdwich Montimere carried that fake ID with him the entire time he lived with Permian head basketball coach Danny Wright. This was particularly galling for Wright, who considered Montimere “a family member” who would never do such a deceitful thing. ”The whole school of Permian embraced that kid. He deceived us and played on everyone involved’s emotions, "said the distraught coach to the newspaper.

”I feel like I was hit by a ton of bricks. In my 50 years in education, I’ve never heard of anything like this,” said Permian High School athletic director Leon Fuller to the media.

Blame it on Florida

As outlined by the American, Odessa authorities received an anonymous tip from somebody in Florida, where Montimere attended high school legitimately. Would that be Montimere’s less creepy, a lot more morally grounded friends or family? Regardless of the specifics, it was that phone call that eventually led immigration straight to Jerry Joseph/Guerdwich Montimere. Subsequent investigation put an end to Guerdwich Montimere's irresponsible scheme.

Football will make them feel better, eventually

The school that inspired the wildly popular “Friday Night Lights” in print and on television will always have their football glory to keep them warm. The Permian Panthers will look in shame upon Guerdwich Montimere's season with the team, as the rules require the team’s achievements be nullified for using the ineligible player – although Permian had no idea.
