The newest project between National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, is creating a sensation. A spacecraft is to be designed that will take not only enough cargo, however also crew, to Mars. The project is being called the 100 Year Starship. However, there is a significant difference between this project and the Apollo missions. The difference is type of significant. The hitch is the astronauts on this mission won’t come back.
National Aeronautics and Space Administration and DARPA will see Mars soon
NASA and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency are working together on a project which was announced at the Long Conversation conference in San Francisco by NASA Ames Research Center's Pete Worden. The project, according to The Telegraph, is so far called the 100 Year Starship program, and also the two government agencies are seeking to enlist help. The world’s billionaires are being solicited for donations, including Larry Page, co-founder of Google. By next year there ought to be a first design. This would be really great. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Challenge, which was an endurance race for self-driving cars, was much more concrete than this project. The intent of the project is to build an amazing spacecraft. The point would be that it could get cargo and astronauts to Mars safely. This project is different than the international Space Station and Apollo 11. The astronauts will not be coming back from Mars.
One way ticket
It is hard for making a ferry between Earth and other planets due to the distance. Nine months is needed to get all the way to Mars. Becoming self enough is the plan for many who go there. That's what they will have to learn to do. NASA has $1 million to spend, however it’s envisioned the project would cost at least $10 billion to pull off. According to Fox News, there is a lot of fuel to move equipment into space. Four pounds of fuel per one pound of equipment is needed. It will be almost impossible to make a return journey since getting to Mars is already a difficult 1.
Colonizing on Mars
Mars is just the next step in space exploration. It will not be long before other planets are being colonized. A permanent colony on Mars with many astronauts would be the plan. The Mars lifestyle is what they will figure out. There has to be some way to do it. This planet, eventually, will die. Mankind, if it’s to survive, must find a way to live somewhere else.
