Deliveries of UPS packages shut down after suspicious package found

A UPS plane with a suspicious package had been found in a U.K. airport. Airports in the United States have been put on alert. Inspection of UPS trucks are being carried out in both countries. The package that was found seemed to be innocuous. It had been a “manipulated” toner cartridge for a printer. Delays with UPS throughout whole world

U.S. airports were put on high alert this morning. A UPS plane in the United Kingdom had been found to have a suspicious package on Thursday evening, leading to the current ripple effect. A UPS truck in New York had to be inspected. Along with that, cargo flights in Newark and Philadelphia were things looked into. Flights and packages received from Yemen are the main focus of these inspections. Checking out all of the suspicious shipments is the plan of the Transportation Security Administration and UPS officials who are working together.

Bomb squads called in to examine UPS shipments

In the U.K., there was the first plane being delayed. A toner cartridge had been in the plane. The toner cartridge came out negative for explosives. This doesn't stop them from continuing to test it though. There is still going to be a bomb squad in on this. They’ll be within the New York area looking at a UPS truck. There is a fairly small risk coming with these packages.

Being extra careful

UPS trucks and UPS planes are being searched “out of an abundance of caution.”. There isn't that great of a risk which has lead to many airports avoiding shutting down. Freight distribution might be postponed for a couple of days, but the overall impact will be fairly small. There is a slight delay in the UPS cargo flights and UPS trucks. That doesn't mean you should worry that it could have any kind of effect on you.
