Fans of the kid’s show iCarly have long known of spaghetti tacos. New York Times made this food more popular with a feature. It is possible to make this “joke food” palatable.
Where the spaghetti taco began
iCarly is a TV series on Nickelodeon. That is the first place the spaghetti taco was seen. One of the characters is obsessed with the “Italio-Mexican treat.”. It is made with a taco shell that has layered in it pasta, tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. The new York Times explains that on October 5, the wider culinary world started to view a lot more of this children food.
Making palatable spaghetti tacos
As the spaghetti tacos began as a joke, it has created quite the challenge. Spaghetti tacos are very carb-heavy and were unappealing on purpose. The good news is, though, that spaghetti tacos can be made right. You are able to just make this at home rather than paying a “children’s chef” to do it for you.
Balancing the carbs of spaghetti tacos
A lot of carbs are within the spaghetti tacos. They compete making it a challenge. The way spaghetti is traditionally made, the tomato sauce would also soak via the shell, making anything a sloppy mess. It is easy and doesn’t cost much to get around this. Balance things with the sauce being salsa instead.
How to make spaghetti tacos
- Get 6 – 8 corn taco shells
- 4 – 5 large Roma tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil
- Have 2 cloves of garlic on hand
- You’ll want to have 2 tablespoons fresh oregano
- About half a package, or 8 ounces, of spaghetti noodles cooked
- You’ll need a quarter cup of butter
- Last, get 1 cup of parmesan cheese
Use foil to wrap taco shells. Put them in an oven at 200 degrees.
Chop together the tomatoes, basil, oregano and garlic until they reach a salsa-like consistency.
Melt butter until it is bubbling in a large frying pan. The cooked spaghetti noodles will then go to the butter and sauté. The cheese will coat it. Remove it from heat.
Tongs are useful when getting to taco shells out of the oven. You need to do this next. Layer a small amount of the cooked spaghetti in the bottom of the shell, and top with savory salsa. Top with additional Parmesan or asigo cheese, if desired.
