Blackpad - 7 inches of Blackberry gossips

The Blackpad by Blackberry could well make waves. The newest rival to the iPad may be announced this week. The headline about the Blackpad, possibly including a preview, could be made at the Developer Conference today. Reports have varied as to if the headline can be made today. RIM has not said for sure what today’s headline could be. Some claim that the basic system will not be ready for today’s speech. With or without a headline, the Blackpad will be the stuff of rumors.

The Blackpad’s spot for RIM

Recently, Research in Motion has encountered many company challenges. The Blackberry was originally designed and intended for enterprise and government use. Though that niche is relatively small, Blackberry and RIM did really well serving it. Customers came to love the Blackberry machine, although it was not intended with customers in mind. Balancing these two consumer groups has proven difficult. RIM tries to maintain high-performance features and consumer friendliness. With more customers defecting to Android or Apple devices, RIM and Blackberry need a large seller to keep their stockholders happy.

Just what Blackpad will consist of

The Blackpad is, in short, an iPad competitor. Instead of a stylus, the Blackpad will take touches. The biggest challenge for RIM is that the Blackpad system probably won’t be ready for DevCon 2010. Though they don’t have one ready, RIM will still talk concerning the Blackpad. Generalities and deadlines could well be announced. The screen will most likely be 7 inches, though 9.7 is also a possibility. There will also be either one or two cameras for videoconferencing. There can be a new operating system for the Blackpad. Rather than OS3, RIM is developing a new operating system just for the Blackpad. RIM has not yet announced the price of the Blackpad, leaving some to wonder if it will require a no-fax payday loan.

Who’s the Blackpad for?

Though everyday consumers provide a large customer base for the Blackpad, RIM remains a business-based business. All customers will be the prospective of this Blackpad, though the security and high-functions can be maintained. Blackpad could have one major competitive advantage. If a 3G Blackpad is released, it will not be tied to just one cellular network. In other words, no have to be tied to just one cell carrier for tablet compatibility. An Android device called WePad, could be released soon. The Samsung Galaxy will even be a competition released soon.
