Eagles name Michael Vick as the starter

There has been lots of debate and rumor concerning the Eagles and Michael Vick. The great debate is if the Eagles Vick beginning status is only temporary. From currently on, Michael Vick is the beginning quarterback. Of course, he had already absorbed that spot for one game. Kolb had been hurt, and Vick had to step up. At that point, the question was whether Vick had what it took to be a top flight QB anymore. Vick ultimately left the proof within the pudding, putting in impressive performances against the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions. Reid, the Eagles coach, had a conundrum. Ultimately, he chose Vick as the beginning QB.

Victory in Detroit

Michael Vick went to Detroit tasked with leading the Eagles offense. Kolb had been hurt in the season opener towards the Packers. Vick went in for his first stint of more than a series in over a year. He darn near toppled a really good Green Bay Packers team doing it. As Kolb was out with his injury, Vick was going to start towards the Lions on September 19. Vick had 284 yards passing with two touchdowns, according to Sports Illustrated. He also recorded more than 30 yards rushing. The Eagles barely withstood a late Lions comeback. Philadelphia ended up the winners, 35 to 32.

Seeing Reid

At that point, Eagles coach still insisted Kolb was the starter. Reid had said Kolb was back in as soon as he was cleared medically. However, Reid changed his mind and named Vick the starter and is benching Kolb. Vick is known for being mercurial against pass rushes, and the Eagles are having some difficulties with the offensive line. Vick and Reid both have made statements about Kolb's talent and have each and every confidence that he can be a great quarterback. However, the future of Kolb in Philly is academic. Vick could be the starter towards the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The redemption of Vick

Michael Vick was convicted on dog fighting charges and did 18 months in prison. In 2009, Vick was hired by the Eagles and never had more than a series of play, until now. Vick was never an Elway or Favre in passing. Nevertheless, his ability to scramble and find other spots to throw have drawn comparisons numerous times to 49ers legend Steve Young.
