Shear Genius is supposedly intended to be a competition about hairstyling. Just a little bit of controversy has been stirred up by season 3's Shear Genius winner on Bravo.
Whether or not she really should get it, the Shear Genius winner will get $ 100,000 in quick cash prize money as well as a photo shoot with Allure Magazine.
Brig is the Shear Genius Winner
Brig was clearly not the best hairstylist on Shear Genius. Brig was, however, the best reality show competitor on Shear Genius. Winner positions on reality shows are likely to go to the competitor that provides the best TV, not necessarily one of the most skilled.
So it’s only somewhat surprising that Brig, known for her crazy outfits and over-the-top hair bows, took the Shear Genius Winner prize and won’t have to instant money to feed her big-bow addiction.
How Shear Genius works
Shear Genius is like Top Chef and Project runway in that it has a hairstyling theme. Every week the changers are given one short cut challenge where they aren't eliminated and one elimination challenge.
The elimination challenge usually has a theme that the competitors must style hair to match, and then the styles are sent down the runway to be judged by a panel.
The drama surrounding Brig
Brig became the drama bucket of the show on Shear Genius. She generally worked for the drama rather than the competition with her big bows and making herself the center of controversy. Matthew Morris and Janine Jarman were the other two finalists that were more liked by watchers but Brig's buns with extensions won in the end. There are some that are pondering if Brig’s story of “triumph over adversity” may are just what pushed her over the top.
Whatever the reasons, Brig talked herself onto the show, then worked her way up to become the winner of Shear Genius.
